For #GivingTuesday, Ring Sarasota Continues Expansion of Educational Opportunities

This year’s “global day of giving” is Tuesday, November 29th, 2022.

Ring Sarasota is proud to announce its participation in the upcoming #GivingTuesday on November 29th, 2022. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, to encourage people to give back in whatever way they can. The support of our donors in past #GivingTuesday campaigns allowed us to purchase new equipment and expand our repertoire to the delight of audiences.

Ring Sarasota provided its first scholarship to high schooler and ensemble member Kathryn Hamill to attend the Youth Honors Handbell Ensemble. Our governing board now plans to expand scholarship opportunities so that more ringers will have opportunities to attend festivals, seminars, and other handbell events. Your donation to this year’s #GivingTuesday campaign will help Ring Sarasota to award these scholarships.

Since last fall, our Handchime Educational Outreach Program has impacted learners of all ages. Ringers Larry and Sara helped launch and lead a handchime choir at an area senior living facility. Meanwhile, our Associate Conductor Terri Chapman has been working with students of all grade levels at an area private school to provide a musical foundation and an appreciation for handchimes. Participants in both programs are eagerly preparing for live performances this winter.

Finally, just a few weeks ago, Ring Sarasota hosted its inaugural Fall Handbell Workshop for beginner- to intermediate-level ringers. More than 50 ringers attended the half-day workshop, where they brushed up on techniques and learned new skills. The success of this event has our team already working on ways to grow this event in the future.

All of these educational programs help fulfill Ring Sarasota’s mission to educate the community about the art of handbell ringing.
